Notes | This song - the last song in the cycle - contains the train music from the first song, making it truly cyclical. Jim Burden ends the cycle as he began: on train taking him away from his beloved prairie. Yet, the contemplation of his memories has given him some relief from the longing to return to his childhood that pains him. Much of the text in the B section recalls moments from previous songs. Accompanying these moments are musical allusions to the previous songs as well. (Search) |
